Beyoncé returned to the Met Gala for the first time in 10 years as a co-chair, arriving in a jeweled skeleton-inspired look alongside Jay-Z and Blue Ivy, and addressing Act III rumors without confirming new music.

Beyoncé made her first Met Gala appearance in a decade on Monday night, and she didn’t ease back in quietly. She arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York as both guest and co-chair, wearing a fully jeweled, skeleton-inspired gown with a matching crystal headpiece and a dramatic feathered shawl that moved behind her as she walked the carpet.
This year’s gala celebrated the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, Costume Art, and Beyoncé helped lead the night alongside Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams. She also turned the evening into a family outing, posing on the carpet with Jay-Z and 14-year-old Blue Ivy Carter.
Blue Ivy’s appearance quickly became one of the night’s most discussed details. The Met Gala has enforced an 18-and-over policy since 2018, but an exception appeared to be made for Beyoncé’s daughter. The three stopped for photos as a family, with Blue Ivy standing between her parents in several shots that immediately circulated online.
A rare red carpet interview
In another unusual moment, Beyoncé gave a rare interview on the carpet with host La La Anthony, who introduced her by saying, “This is the moment that everybody’s been waiting for.” Asked what it felt like to return for the first time since 2016, Beyoncé kept the focus on her daughter.
“It feels surreal because my daughter’s here,” she said. “She looks so beautiful. It’s incredible to be able to share it with her.”
She added that she was most excited to experience the night through Blue Ivy’s eyes and to enjoy the evening without pressure. She also used the moment to spotlight Olivier Rousteing, who designed her look. Rousteing, known for his long run as Balmain’s creative director before exiting the house in 2025, has worked with Beyoncé across multiple major stage and editorial looks.
“I’m wearing Olivier Rousteing, who is someone that has been so loyal to me, and I’ve done so many incredible, iconic looks with him,” she said. “So it’s really about representing him.”
Act III rumors were loud, but quickly shut down
Beyoncé’s return also reignited fan speculation that she might use the gala to launch Act III, the rumored final chapter after Renaissance and Cowboy Carter. But that momentum was cooled when her longtime publicist responded directly to a fan post on X, writing: “This is unequivocally false!!”
As of publication, Beyoncé has not announced new music tied to the event. For now, the headline is simple: a major return, a co-chair role, and a red carpet appearance that doubled as a family milestone.
