Zara Larsson and PinkPantheress link up again for a new ‘Midnight Sun’ remix, leading Larsson’s guest-heavy remix project Midnight Sun: Girls Trip as her U.S. resurgence keeps building.
Zara Larsson’s U.S. story has changed fast. After breaking through in 2015 at 17, she spent years hovering at the edges of the American pop conversation, still releasing strong records but rarely getting major chart traction. In the past year, that momentum has snapped back into place, and she’s clearly moving with it.
The turn started in an unlikely place: a TikTok meme cycle built around pastel dolphin edits, heavy confessional captions, and Clean Bandit and Larsson’s 2017 hit Symphony. Larsson leaned into it instead of resisting it. Then came her 2024 album Midnight Sun, made with longtime collaborator MNEK, plus a high-visibility opening run on Tate McRae’s tour. The title-track video nodded directly to the meme aesthetic, and by tour’s end, fan chatter around Larsson’s set had become hard to ignore.
She had already built chemistry with PinkPantheress on the Fancy Some More? era remix of Stateside, a collaboration that picked up serious speed after Olympic gold medalist Alysa Liu used it at the Exhibition Gala. The track climbed to No. 6 in the U.S., Larsson’s biggest American hit to date, and helped fuel a broader catalog rebound that now includes renewed attention for Lush Life.
Now Larsson is extending the Midnight Sun run with a full remix companion, Midnight Sun: Girls Trip, featuring guests across every track. The lineup includes Tyla, Shakira, Kehlani, and, notably, Robyn on the Puss Puss rework.
The headline pairing is Larsson and PinkPantheress returning for the Midnight Sun remix. This version pushes the song into PinkPantheress territory with brisk jungle percussion and low-end synth pops that constantly interrupt the groove. It’s busier than the original and less emotionally direct, but there’s enough energy in the arrangement to make it stick on repeat listens. Whether it overtakes the original is another question, but as a follow-up collaboration, it makes sense and keeps Larsson’s current run moving.
