Tracey Nelson previews Hercules with '86,' a country-tinged acoustic single and a Hell Films video of hotels, wrestling, and dogs. Out 7/10.

Tracey Nelson has released another quiet gem ahead of her summer LP: the new single “86.” It arrives like everything else we’ve heard from her lately — slow, unhurried, and perfectly attuned to that hazy, too-hot-to-move feeling of midsummer.
Produced by MJ Lenderman and Colin Miller, Nelson’s forthcoming album Hercules leans into a patient kind of songwriting. The record, out 7/10 on Perennial/K, features contributions from members of Wednesday, Hotline TNT, and Lenderman’s band, making it a small-town, big-heart gathering of players who know how to sit in a groove.
We’ve already heard “Dolly’s Coat,” “Just Shoot Me Now,” and the title track; “86” continues that streak. It’s a pretty acoustic number, simple in arrangement but shaded with country details — fiddle and steel guitar thread the bones of the song — and Nelson’s voice catches in the best places, giving the lyrics an intimate, lived-in edge.
The Hell Films video matches the song’s languor: Nelson drifting through hotel rooms, watching wrestling on a small TV, and hanging out with a couple of very cute dogs. The visuals feel like a companion piece to the music, small domestic moments that let the song breathe rather than force a narrative.
For fans who have been following the rollout, “86” will feel familiar and satisfying: another quiet room to sit in, another reason to press play and slow down. Hercules arrives 7/10 on Perennial/K.
