The Rolling Stones Confirm New Album Foreign Tongues, Featuring Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, and More

The Rolling Stones have announced Foreign Tongues, a new 14-track album out July 10 featuring Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, Steve Winwood, Chad Smith, and one of Charlie Watts’ final recordings.

The Rolling Stones have officially announced their new studio album Foreign Tongues, confirming months of speculation and a stacked list of contributors that includes Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, Steve Winwood, and Chad Smith.

The campaign has been rolling for a while. Last month, billboard sightings across multiple countries showed the band’s tongue logo alongside the phrase “Foreign Tongues” translated into different languages. When the band later reposted the imagery on Instagram, fans quickly connected the dots and began treating it as an album title reveal in all but name.

Before today’s announcement, the Stones also tested the waters with a teaser-era curveball: releasing the new track Rough and Twisted under the alias The Cockroaches. The single’s loose, punchy swagger hinted at the direction they’re now describing as the album’s core energy.

Foreign Tongues arrives July 10 via Polydor/Universal Music. The 14-track record is led by new single In The Stars, out digitally now (May 5), with a physical release set for May 15. Rough and Twisted also lands today in digital format.

The lineup on the record centers on Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, while also featuring one of the final recordings by drummer Charlie Watts before his death in 2021. Production comes from Andrew Watt, who previously worked with the band on 2024’s Hackney Diamonds.

Jagger said the album came together quickly at Metropolis Studios in West London:

“I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

Richards described the project as having a clear “continuity” with Hackney Diamonds, while Wood emphasized how immediate the sessions felt, saying many performances were captured on first takes.

The band is set to appear at a media launch event for Foreign Tongues today in Brooklyn, New York.

As for live plans, a full tour announcement does not appear imminent. In late 2025, reports indicated that proposed UK and European stadium dates for 2026 were dropped because Richards could not commit. The group’s most recent major run, the 2024 North American Hackney Diamonds tour, ranked among the year’s highest-grossing global tours. Their last UK performances were in 2022, including two BST Hyde Park shows in London and a stadium date in Liverpool.
