Ninajirachi leads the 2026 AIR Awards nominations with 10 nods, including independent album and single of the year.

Ninajirachi is headed into the 2026 AIR Awards as the name to beat. The electronic producer and DJ, who records as Nina Wilson, landed 10 nominations across the field, including the big-ticket independent album and single of the year categories.
The haul follows a huge run for I Love My Computer, her debut full-length from last year, which has already carried her through festival stages and awards rooms alike. Along the way, she picked up three wins at the 2025 ARIA Awards, took home the Australian Music Prize for album of the year, won at the J Awards, earned the NSW Music Prize for breakthrough artist, and placed second in the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition for “iPod Touch.” She also hit another major live milestone when she played Coachella 2026, with another North American tour still to come.
That momentum now rolls into the AIR Awards, which will be handed out on Thursday, July 30 at Adelaide Town Hall as an invite-only industry event. For Ninajirachi, it is the sort of nomination spread that suggests one release has managed to travel across club rooms, radio chatter and serious awards-season consideration without losing its grip.
Her label home, Nina Las Vegas’ NLV Records, is also firmly in the frame. The imprint is up for independent label of the year, where it will compete with ABC Music, Astral People Recordings, College Of Knowledge and Mushroom Music.
The nominees, announced on May 14, also include Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, Spacey Jane, Jem Cassar-Daley, Confidence Man, FISHER, John Butler, Keli Holiday and Stella Donnelly. The trophies will once again be presented on the penultimate night of AIR’s Indie-Con Australia Conference and A2IM’s Indie Week Australian Edition, held this year at Mercury Cinema and Nexus Arts from July 29 to 31.
“The South Australian Government is proud to support Indie-Con Australia and the AIR Awards,” arts minister Kyam Maher MLC said, “and to welcome nominees, industry leaders and delegates from across Australia and around the world to South Australia.”
This year’s awards also mark a more precise split in AIR’s dance and electronic categories. Best independent dance/club single is now reserved for club-focused tracks, including house, techno, trance, drum & bass and garage, with eligibility requiring a DJ service component. Best independent electronic single, by contrast, now covers releases not built primarily for club settings, separating floor-ready records from broader electronic work.
The change also brings a renamed album category: what was previously best independent dance or electronica album or EP is now best independent electronic album or EP, keeping the album side aligned with the new single framework.
