Kneecap to donate Fenian sales as Irish‑language album reaches No. 2 in UK charts
Kneecaps Fenian hits Number Two in the UK, the highest-charting Irish-language album; the band will donate sales profits to three charities.
Kneecap have pushed an Irish‑language record into rarefied chart territory. Their second album, Fenian, landed at Number Two on the UK Albums Chart in its first week, making it the highest‑charting Irish‑language album in UK chart history.
Released on May 1 as the follow-up to 2024s Fine Art, Fenian features collaborations with Kae Tempest, Radie Peat and Fawzi. The new LP leapfrogs the Number 42 peak that Fine Art managed last year, and arrives with the band promising to funnel the financial upside back into community causes.
The record was only kept off the top spot by The Essential Michael Jackson, the 2005 compilation that has been buoyed again by the big‑screen biopic Michael. Elsewhere in the latest chart, Melanie C scored her highest ever solo placing and the highest for any Spice Girls solo recordwith Sweat at Number Three, while Kacey Musgraves Middle Of Nowhere sits at Number Seven.
