Eartheater Announces Heavenly Body: If I’m The Bottle You’re The Message, Shares “Paradise Rains”

Alexandra Drewchin has spent the last stretch moving like an artist with no interest in standing still. Since Powders arrived in 2023, the New York musician who records as Eartheater has covered System Of A Down, linked with FKA twigs, Shygirl, and John Glacier, and become a mother. That last development, as it turns out, sits at the center of her next record.

Eartheater’s new album, Heavenly Body: If I’m The Bottle You’re The Message, was written in the wake of the birth of her daughter, Nova, now 10 months old. She began recording it three months after Nova was born, and the album traces the turbulence and tenderness of pregnancy and motherhood. Most of it was co-produced with TV On The Radio’s David Andrew Sitek. The exception is the closing track, “Nova,” which Eartheater made with Nosaj Thing and Donnie Darko score composer Michael Andrews. Oklou, who is also a new mother, appears on “Fast Asleep.”

The first glimpse of the album is “Paradise Rains,” a dramatic, orchestral song that Eartheater says came out of a deeply personal return home. “Paradise Rains” is a song about buying back my childhood farm after being estranged from it for 20 years. I conceived my baby the day we first stepped back on the property. So many memories, good and bad, were resuscitated being back, and calloused tensions dissolved and got washed away by the showers of deep love with my new little family.

It’s a striking frame for a record already carrying a lot of emotional weight. Below, hear “Paradise Rains” and check out the tracklist for Heavenly Body: If I’m The Bottle You’re The Message, along with Eartheater’s upcoming live dates.
