A few weeks back it was the Game making a similar point. Now Whoo Kid has joined that chorus. In a recent sit-down with Diverse Mentality, the longtime mixtape vet reflected on Drake using his drop for Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Push Ups,” and how that moment landed while he was on a cruise with a significant other.
He said the interaction was simple, and useful: Drake reached out for permission, and the usage helped a younger audience rediscover Whoo Kid’s mixtape era. But he framed all of it through a larger point about cycles in hip-hop.
