Dazy—James Goodson—returns with synth-leaning singles "BIG Problem" and "Gravity," out now on Lame-O. Tour dates with Sleaford Mods announced.

It is officially a good day for Dazy fans: James Goodson has surfaced with two new singles, “BIG Problem” and “Gravity,” his first offerings of 2026. The Richmond-based musician and publicist has spent the last few years turning lo-fi fuzz-pop into a reliable string of hooks, and these tracks nudge his sound in a slightly brighter, more synth-forward direction.
Goodson’s solo project has been productive lately. In 2025 he released the Bad Penny EP, the single “Pay No Mind (To The Signs),” and a collaboration with Militarie Gun titled “Tall People Don’t Live Long.” Now, just before he hits the road with Sleaford Mods, he’s dropped two glittering, dance-leaning songs that suggest he’s been tinkering with new textures — yes, even what sounds like a melodica — without abandoning the songcraft that makes his work feel unmistakably his.
“I think at the end of the day, I pretty much make singer-songwriter music. It’s usually just simple chord progressions and vocal melodies, but I like the idea of taking those fundamentals and finding ways to bend the presentation. I feel like the more I try to change things up, the more I sort of discover the true constants of my own songwriting, the things that make it sound like me whether it’s in the context of big distorted guitars or samples — or hopefully anything.”
The new singles lean into synthy indie-dance territory more than some of his previous, guitar-forward Dazy work, but the hook-first instincts remain intact. Fans who’ve followed him since the pandemic-era run that made him a frequent presence on playlists and dinner-party shoutouts will recognize his knack for small, memorable moments — now reframed against pulsing keyboards and sleeker production.
Goodson is set to bring the new material to the stage on a run with Sleaford Mods. Expect a sweaty, excited crowd and the kind of loose energy that suits songs which sit between jangly nostalgia and contemporary indie dance.
