Charli XCX Shares Vinyl-Only B-Side ‘I Keep Thinking About You Every Single Day And Night’

Charli XCX has already moved on from the divisive energy of “Rock Music”, dropping a companion track that lives in the margins for now. The new b-side, “I Keep Thinking About You Every Single Day And Night,” is currently available only on vinyl and through her b-sides Instagram account.

In the caption, Charli kept the rollout loose and typically Charli-sized: “’i keep thinking about you every single day and night’ the b side to rock music,” she wrote. “i went to kyoto for six weeks to shoot a film. while we were there, i made this video with aidan [Zamiri]. only available on vinyl & here on b.sides. so rip the audio if you want it xx.”

There is, of course, a certain kind of pop song that tries to split the difference between confessional and knowing wink, and Charli has long been one of the few artists who can make that tension feel like part of the point. On this one, though, the lyrics seem calculated to stir the conversation as much as the feelings. “Now I’m wondering if I maybe could be gay/ But come on, look at me, I’m probably not.” Then later: “I’ve always wondered if you were actually gay/ Or if that’s somеthing you just say for your career.”

Some fans are already treating it as a possible response to Taylor Swift’s Charli diss track “Actually Romantic,” but the track itself keeps the ambiguity intact. The result is the kind of release that practically invites a discourse spiral, especially around queerbaiting, whether or not that was the intention.
