Mike D has announced his first UK and European solo shows, with dates in London, Berlin, Barcelona, Belgium and Paris.

Mike D has lined up his first ever solo shows in the UK and Europe, with a run of intimate dates set to begin later this summer. For a figure so deeply tied to the Beastie Boys mythos, the move lands with a certain charge, especially after the recent string of surprise appearances and new music that have kept him unusually active.
The announcement follows Mike D turning up onstage last month with his sons Davis and Skyler, who front the indie-dance group Very Nice Person, and tearing into a couple of Beastie Boys classics. Not long after that, he confirmed a pair of solo live dates in the US, including a show at Los Angeles’ Plaza Nightclub & Dance Hall, where he debuted new solo material. Then, last week, came his first solo single, Switch Up.
Now he is taking that solo chapter across the Atlantic. The newly announced headline shows will see him play unconventional venues across the continent, beginning with two nights at 26 Leake Street in London on June 5 and 6. He will then head to Berlin for a show at Saalchen before moving on to Barcelona, Kortrijk and Sint-Niklaas.

In addition to the headline dates, Mike D is also booked for a handful of festivals in June, including Primavera Sound in Porto, Beyond The Pale in Wicklow, and Beyond The Streets in Paris. Tickets for the headline shows go on sale this Friday, May 15, at 10am local time. Visit here for tickets and more information.

The new music from Mike D is the first fresh material from any Beastie Boys member since the group’s 2011 album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. It also comes after a long stretch away from the road as a Beastie Boy. Since Adam “MCA” Yauch died in 2012, Mike D had not toured under that banner, and the Beastie Boys’ most recent release before this current wave arrived as a deluxe reissue of their 2004 album To The Five Boroughs, issued earlier this year.
