Babehoven Share “Blue Around You” Ahead of Tour With Ray Bull

Maya Bon has been in a particularly collaborative stretch this year, though with Babehoven she is rarely working alone for long. The Hudson, New York duo, formed with producer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Albert, released Water’s Here In You in 2024, and since then Bon has kept moving between projects and guests: a song with Cassandra Jenkins and Bloomsday appeared on last year’s TRAИƧA benefit compilation, she joined Squirrel Flower to cover Mojave 3’s “My Life In Art,” and she also teamed with Squirrel Flower and Billie Marten on “Wheels.”

Now Babehoven have returned with a new single of their own. “Blue Around You” arrives just as the band prepares to head out on tour with Ray Bull tomorrow, and it leans into a soft, homespun kind of country, with fiddle carrying much of the weight. It’s the sort of song that lingers on the feeling of being briefly folded into something larger than yourself.

Standing on a bridge seeing apartments illuminated around you, being understood by a friend who knows your story, witnessing someone pull their life together like tenderly tying a shoelace — these are all moments where we find each other in the soup of it all and choose to really see one another and stay. I see the blue around you as if we carry the hard times we go through around and within us like a glow
