Alex Cameron announces Late To Set, shares “Red Hook Rain,” and sets a full tour run for 2026.

Four years after Oxy Music, Alex Cameron is back with a new album and, in true Cameron fashion, a title that sounds like it could be either a confession or a threat. The Australian singer has announced Late To Set, due out 7/24, and he’s leading the rollout with a new single called “Red Hook Rain.”
Cameron first broke a relatively long silence last year with “Short King,” a deliberately ridiculous and undeniably sticky song that does not make the album cut. He followed it last month with “Statue Down,” a sharper, eat-the-rich swipe that does appear on the record. It’s a pretty telling sequence of returns: one track built for pure mischief, the other with a bit more bite.
According to a press release, Late To Set was recorded after a stretch of unspecified personal upheaval. Cameron worked with producers Mark Perkins, Zach Dawes, and Maxim Ludwig, though he’s listed as the sole producer on “Red Hook Rain.” The new single leans into a widescreen, ’80s-style synth-rock pulse, the kind of song that seems to want open road and daylight speed, even if it’s coming from a very different emotional place.
There’s also a live run coming, which matters with Cameron. His songs tend to land differently when they’re being barked and smirked through a room full of people who already know the punchlines. He’ll spend part of the summer touring Europe with the Strokes, and he’s also lined up a pair of North American stretches before and after those dates.
