Alex Lahey Revisits “You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me” With Tegan and Sara on B-Grade University (Reunion Edition)

Alex Lahey is revisiting the record that put her on plenty of radars in the first place. A decade after releasing her debut EP B-Grade University in the summer of 2016, the Australian songwriter is giving it a new life with B-Grade University (Reunion Edition), a reissue that adds five tracks to the original set. The new material includes remakes featuring Tegan & Sara and Slowly Slowly, so-called “bathroom” and “bedroom” versions of two songs, and a live cut from triple j’s Like A Version series.

The first preview is a new take on EP standout “You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me,” now carrying a little extra Tegan & Sara energy. Reworked versions can sometimes feel like box-ticking exercises, but this one sounds like more than a polite update. The production feels sharper, the arrangement has been opened up, and the whole thing gets a lift from a sleek new keyboard part that adds both tension and playfulness. Most importantly, the hook still lands exactly as it should.

That kind of praise makes the collaboration feel less like a gimmick and more like the kind of reunion fans actually care about. Lahey and Tegan & Sara have history, and this track makes that connection audible in the best way possible.
