Simon Le Bon says Duran Duran will only play Glastonbury if they’re given a headline slot, not a 3pm tent set.

Duran Duran have made their position on Glastonbury pretty clear: they are not interested in turning up unless they’re given top billing.
The new wave synthpop group have sold more than 100 million records, collected Grammy and Brit Awards, and earned induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, yet they have never stepped onto Worthy Farm. In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Simon Le Bon explained why that still hasn’t changed.
“Well, we want to – but not in a disco tent at 3pm, which is what we were offered,” the frontman said. “We want the right slot… We shouldn’t be below anybody on the bill. So, we’ll hold out because we’re a headline act – that’s all there is to it.”
The comments echo what Le Bon said back in 2023, when NME asked about the possibility of the band finally getting on the Glastonbury bill. “I’d love to [do it] – we just need to get the right slot, that’s all,” he said.
At the time, he added: “We have had the chance to do it before, but it wasn’t playing the main stage and I think we’d like to be doing that for sure. I’m sure we’re in negotiations [with Glastonbury], and if not, we will be.”
Duran Duran’s most recent UK live dates came in October 2025, when they headlined Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena and Manchester’s Co-op Live. Before that, they closed Latitude 2024 and appeared at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022.
Glastonbury is in a fallow year in 2026, but it will return from June 23 to 27 in 2027. Tickets go on sale in November this year, and fans have to register before they can buy.
No acts have been announced yet, though Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Taylor Swift are already being tipped by bookmakers as possible headliners. There’s also chatter around The Rolling Stones making a return to Worthy Farm, after Keith Richards recently suggested they could be back on the road in 2027.
The band’s latest release, ‘Free To Love’, arrived in April and reunited them with Chic’s Nile Rodgers, who first worked with Duran Duran on the 1984 chart-topper ‘The Reflex’. They’re also set for a major BST Hyde Park show on July 5, with Scissor Sisters on the bill too.
