ATARASHII GAKKO!, Awich, Hitsujibungaku and LANA will perform at Billboard Japan and Spotify’s Women in Music EQUAL STAGE in Tokyo on June 9.
Billboard Japan and Spotify are bringing four of Japan’s most watched women artists together for a one-night concert in Tokyo on June 9, when Women In Music — EQUAL STAGE lands at SGC Hall Ariake as part of MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK.
The lineup is a sharp cross-section of the current scene: dance-pop group ATARASHII GAKKO!, rappers Awich and LANA, and rock duo Hitsujibungaku. It’s being positioned as a first-of-its-kind event, and the appeal is obvious. These are artists with very different sounds and fanbases, gathered under one roof for a show built around visibility as much as performance.
The concert brings together two ongoing initiatives. Billboard Japan’s Women In Music, launched in 2022, spotlights women whose work pushes for a more inclusive world. Spotify’s EQUAL program, which began in 2021, has the same broader goal from a global angle: create more opportunities for women artists and creators, and keep support moving beyond a single campaign cycle. In practice, EQUAL STAGE turns that shared mission into a live event with some serious range.
