Fat Dog return with ‘80s-leaning new single ‘Go Fuck Urself’ and a packed 2026 live run

Fat Dog are back with a new single, and they’re not easing in. ‘Go Fuck Urself’ is the South London band’s first new music of 2026, arriving after their 2024 debut album WOOF. and last summer’s standalone cuts Peace Song and Pray To That.

The new track leans into an ‘80s glow without losing the band’s usual bite. Airy synths and pulsing electro-pop beats carry the song, while Joe Love delivers its lines with the kind of deadpan confidence that makes the whole thing land harder. “Some jokers play the same old game / No one to annoy / Find a mirror and the person to blame,” he sings, before the chorus snaps into place: “Go and fuck yourself/ I’m going to take you all down/ before I take myself”.

Love co-produced the track with Oli Bayston, whose credits include Mary In The Junkyard and Kelly Lee Owens. There’s also a grimy new video to go with it, with Love seen psyching himself up to step into the wrestling ring.

The timing matters, too. Fat Dog are heading into a heavy stretch of live dates this summer before a UK and European headline tour in October. Festival stops include Pinkpop and Sheffield’s Rock’n’Roll Circus, while bigger dates on the calendar include support slots with Kneecap at Crystal Palace Park on June 27 and Foo Fighters in Berlin, Vienna and Milan.

For a band that turned heads so quickly, it’s hardly surprising the anticipation is still running high. Last year, WOOF. picked up a glowing five-star review from NME, which called it “unserious, unhinged and sensational”. The review also singled out drummer Johnny ‘Doghead’ Hutchinson’s latex dog mask, noting that the group had fully committed to the bit and made the crop of “intricate and occasionally miserable post-punk” around them seem dull by comparison.

That live reputation was already clear before the album landed. Speaking to NME for their Cover feature, keyboardist Chris Hughes reflected on the reaction Fat Dog get on stage and what keeps the band feeling different from everyone else.

“What we’ve got as a band is special. I hear things from my friends who are in other groups, and there just seems to be constant animosity elsewhere,” he said.

“We get these moments where everything lines up: sometimes, we all look at each other on stage, and quietly recognise that we’re playing a really good gig. It’s an amazing feeling.”

Now, with ‘Go Fuck Urself’ out in the world and a long list of shows ahead, Fat Dog are clearly keeping momentum exactly where fans want it: right on the edge of chaos, but in control.
