Playboi Carti Makes History With Sixth Rolling Loud Orlando Headline Set and Tells the Crowd: 'F—k the Budget'

Playboi Carti is still treating the Opium lane like it belongs to him, and Rolling Loud Orlando gave him another chance to prove it. On Saturday night, May 9, the Atlanta rapper delivered a record-breaking sixth headlining set at the festival, stepping out before more than 60,000 fans and turning the Under Armour Stage into his own fever dream of mosh pits, pyrotechnics, and screaming bodies pressed toward the barricade.

Carti appeared about 100 feet in the air, without a harness, perched on a gothic staircase as the crowd watched every move. He leaned into the look too: white dress shirt, leather pants, a YSL black suit jacket with tassels, and the usual Carti-coded finishing touches, from star diamond earrings and piercings to a chain, sunglasses, and a du-rag. The whole thing felt like a victory lap, even before he said a word.

He hit the stage around 10 p.m. ET, just as the Florida heat started to ease up, and opened with “HBA,” which immediately sent the Opium-heavy crowd into overdrive. From there, he leaned into the songs fans came to hear. “Pop Out,” “Evil J0rdan,” “Stop Breathing,” and “Sky” arrived early, before “FE!N” pushed the energy into full chaos, with flames flashing across the stage and mosh pits opening everywhere.

It was an all-Opium weekend in Orlando, too. Destroy Lonely and HXG played ahead of Carti, while Ken Carson stepped in for NBA YoungBoy as Sunday night’s headliner. That made Carti’s set feel less like a standalone performance and more like a flex from the whole camp, with Carti joining his mentees onstage for one of the night’s warmer moments. It was a simple image, but a telling one: this is what rap crews look like when they actually dominate the conversation.

Carson also premiered a rage-heavy unreleased track during the night, a possible hint at what could be coming with The Xperiment. Carti, meanwhile, kept the momentum moving through “Rockstar Made,” “OPM BABI,” “K Pop,” and “Like Weezy,” each song pulling a little more noise out of the crowd.

One of the loudest reactions came when he reached back to “Location,” the opening track from his 2017 self-titled mixtape. Fans clearly knew what that meant, and plenty probably wondered what it would have sounded like if Lil Uzi Vert had shown up for “Shoota.” Carti was in one of his more volatile moods, too. At one point, he took off his belt and started whipping the railing while letting out the kind of screeches that have become part of the spectacle around him.

For all the mayhem, Carti kept circling one surprisingly sentimental topic: graduation. He shouted out those who graduated a few times during the set, despite the fact that he never went to college himself. “Congratulations, you made it, b—h,” he said during “Long Time.” “Congratulations to the class of 2026. Congratulations to everyone who graduated. You made it.”

As the 11 p.m. ET curfew got closer, Carti made it clear he wasn’t interested in trimming anything down. He told DJ Swamp Izzo that they should keep going and deal with whatever came after. “I got too many songs, just do it. F—k the budget,” he said before sliding into “Rather Lie.”

There were not many big surprises in the 30-year-old’s set, but he did catch people off guard by performing the Vory-assisted “24 Songs.” The track has hung around the edges of Carti lore since the early 2020s and leaked in full in 2023, which made its appearance feel like one of the night’s few real detours.

By the end, the set had started to lose a bit of its spark, which is the downside of Carti’s unpredictability: it can make the whole thing feel electric, but it can also leave you wanting one more jolt. He still found enough to close with “Crank” and protect his king-of-Rolling-Loud status, though DJ Swamp Izzo ended up getting the final word. “Baby Boi on the way,” he teased, referring to Carti’s rumored upcoming project.

Carti disappeared into the dark around 11:15 p.m. ET, leaving behind a crowd that had just watched him turn a festival headline slot into a reminder of who still commands the room when the Opium universe rolls through.
