Welcome Strawberry Share Low-Key Acoustic EP Floral Arrangements

Welcome Strawberry quietly dropped a new EP today: Floral Arrangements, a compact, acoustic-leaning companion to last year’s sophomore LP Desperate Flower. It arrives with the modesty of a side release rather than a headline-making follow-up, and that suits the material—there’s a softness here that highlights the band’s dreamier edges.

On Bandcamp the group calls Floral Arrangements “an acoustic companion piece.” The record is exactly that: a small, tidy collection of odds and ends that stitch new textures onto the Desperate Flower era. You get one new song, a remix of a track from the LP, a tender cover, and a final demo that swings harder than the rest.

The cover is of a 2020 track by Bay Area peers Aluminum — As Big As You Are — placed here like a regional tip of the hat. The closing tune is an older demo; when the big guitars finally surge in, they startled my cat, which is as reliable a sign of shoegaze heft as any.

Welcome Strawberry have always been at their best when they blur the line between hazy and immediate, and Floral Arrangements pushes them into an acoustic-adjacent zone that suits their melodies. I might like the band a little better when they’re working in this softer register: the first three tracks together cast a kind of dreamlike spell that’s deliberately low-key but rewarding if you lean into it.
