Slippers Share Final Single “Wasted Tonight” Ahead of Debut LP Slippers 08

Madeline Babuka Black has quietly closed the pre-release chapter for Slippers 08 with a final single that feels like a small, sticky-sweet surrender. “Wasted Tonight” lands as the last taste of the band’s debut LP: a fuzzy, power-pop song about watching something fail to fulfill itself.

We already fell for the first two singles, “Wants For Everyone” and “Fool In Your Room”—each earned a spot on our Best Songs Of The Week lists—and “Wasted Tonight” continues that streak. The track trades big gestures for tight hooks and a melancholy that slips into the chorus with a grin.

There are lines that do the work without overstating it: “The writing on the wall says/ That nothing’s every actualized,” the song observes, and later, “And all the buttons that you could’ve unbuttoned/ It’s all wasted tonight.” It’s a clear-eyed look at potential stalled mid-flight, wrapped in jangly guitars and a warm production sheen.
