RIP Magic share James Murphy-produced single “Screwdark” as they sign to section1

RIP Magic unveil "Screwdark," a James Murphy-produced single as they sign to section1; Marco Pini's band keeps opening for Tame Impala on the arena tour.

RIP Magic are back with a new James Murphy-produced single, “Screwdark,” and a label deal: the band has signed to section1, the Los Angeles-based sister label to Partisan Records.

The group formed last year when Sorry’s Marco Pini linked up with Felix Bayley-Higgins, Beth Boswell-Knight, and Pedro Takahashi. Since then they’ve popped up in some notable spots — supporting LCD Soundsystem on select dates and collaborating directly with Murphy — and are currently opening for Tame Impala on the arena tour.

“Screwdark” arrives as a turbulent, Murphy-shaped cut and is accompanied by a music video from director Velcro. The clip plays like a chaotic tour montage, stitching live moments and backstage fragments into a brisk, disorienting ride. Watch below.

Signing to section1 places RIP Magic alongside labelmates like King Princess and Sword II, a move that positions the band for a wider push while they continue to build momentum on major tours.
