Prisonnier Du Temps Sets New LP Prendre Le Pouvoir Par La Force, Shares Two New Tracks

Syndrome 81 bassist Jacky Cadiou returns with a new Prisonnier Du Temps album, Prendre Le Pouvoir Par La Force, and two advance tracks that blend oi grit, punk urgency, and unexpected melodic lift.

Jacky Cadiou, best known as the bassist in Brest oi standouts Syndrome 81, is bringing his solo project Prisonnier Du Temps back with a second album, Prendre Le Pouvoir Par La Force. The project name translates to “Prisoner of Time,” and if you heard 2022’s Comme Un Lion En Cage, you already know how Cadiou bends classic French oi into something colder and more severe, pulling in gothic death-rock textures without losing the street-punk backbone.

The new record arrives in just a couple of weeks, and Cadiou has previewed it with two tracks: La Liberté S’Obtient Par Le Sang and Dernier Regard. Both songs hit with that rough-edged, chorus-heavy momentum that made Syndrome 81 so compelling, but they also stretch outward. You can hear nods to the punk lineage cited on the album’s Bandcamp page, including Criminal Damage, Poison Idea, and Tragedy, especially in the blown-out guitars and the way the hooks still cut through the grit.

What stands out most is the contrast. There are acoustic guitar passages, big “whoa-oh” backing vocals, and melodic lines that flirt with new wave structure without softening the impact. These are still stompers, just with sharper pop instincts tucked inside the noise. It makes both advance songs feel built for singalongs in a packed room, even as they lean into themes of revolt and confrontation.
