Meg Stalter Announces Debut Album Crave, Shares New Single “Prettiest Girl In America”

Meg Stalter has released her debut single “Prettiest Girl In America” and announced her first album, Crave, due later this summer. The electroclash-leaning track follows months of teasing and expands the Hacks star’s move into pop.

Meg Stalter is stepping into pop mode. Best known for her scene-stealing comedy work on Hacks and her role in Lena Dunham’s Too Much, Stalter has released her debut single, “Prettiest Girl In America.”

The track introduces her first album, Crave, due later this summer. Stalter wrote the record with Jesse Thomas, and the pair co-produced it with Matias Mora. If the lead single is any indication, she’s aiming straight at early-2000s pop gloss, with a sharp, tongue-in-cheek twist that matches her on-screen persona.

“Prettiest Girl In America” leans into electroclash textures and deadpan humor, with Stalter playing up the absurdity of fame, beauty, and wealth. The song’s perspective feels intentionally exaggerated, almost like a character monologue set to a dance beat.

She has also been teasing this era for a while. During a Late Show with Stephen Colbert appearance last year while promoting Too Much, Stalter wore a T-shirt-turned-corset printed with the phrase “Meg Stalter is the prettiest girl in America” — a clear preview of the single’s premise and tone.

Outside the rollout, fan response has already spilled into meme culture. A recent Meg Stalter lookalike contest reportedly turned into an impromptu listening party for her musical debut, with Stalter eventually showing up and roasting participants in person — exactly the kind of chaotic comedy-pop crossover her audience has come to expect.
