Sabrina Carpenter Wore a Dior Dress Made From Film Reels at the 2026 Met Gala

Sabrina Carpenter hit the 2026 Met Gala in a custom Dior dress by Jonathan Anderson made from camera film, including stills from the 1954 classic Sabrina—capping a year already defined by Coachella and bold fashion swings.

Sabrina Carpenter arrived at the 2026 Met Gala in one of the night’s most talked-about looks: a custom Dior design by Jonathan Anderson built from actual camera film.

On the red carpet, speaking with Vogue host La La Anthony, Carpenter explained the concept in her own words: “It’s all made of film, which is my dream.” She added, “Jonathan Anderson, the genius that he is.”

The material choice wasn’t random. The dress incorporated film stills from the 1954 movie Sabrina, which Carpenter called one of her all-time favorites. For fans who track her style references, it felt like a direct line between old Hollywood romance and her current pop era.

Carpenter also shared that Anderson and the Dior team had just handled her Coachella wardrobe before turning around and creating this Met Gala piece. The turnaround helps explain why the look felt so specific to her current moment: she’s been treating fashion as part of the performance, not just promo-cycle styling.

Asked about headlining Coachella, Carpenter laughed and admitted the whole thing still feels surreal. “I don’t know, I blacked out a bit. And then I did it, and then I was driving in the car. And then that was it,” she said, before describing the set as “electric” and saying she’ll remember it forever.

She also spoke about her evolving approach to style, saying she’s leaning further into risk. At this stage, Carpenter said, her mindset is simple: the crazier, the better, because bigger risks can lead to bigger payoff.

This year, she attended the Gala as more than a guest. Carpenter is part of the 2026 host committee, alongside names including Doja Cat, LISA, Sam Smith, and Teyana Taylor.

Between a headline Coachella run, a high-concept Dior collaboration, and now host-committee duties at the Met, Carpenter’s 2026 is shaping up as a full-spectrum pop year—music, fashion, and cultural visibility all moving at once.
